Conquer Overwhelm with Weird Tools

Happy Thursday Reader!,

Have you ever uttered a statement and then thought....."well that's not a thing I ever thought I'd have a reason to say?"

Earlier this week I said, "please don't pee on the zombies."

Really?

(In case you don't know, I have a bunch of dogs....we were on a walk....it's Halloween time.)

I keep thinking about it and chuckling to myself. I used to find myself saying things I never thought I'd say with my kids....and now it's my dogs?

What have you said recently that made you shake your head in disbelief?

ADHD-Friendly Ways to Keep Going, Come Back, or Let It Go

New Blog Post - Your ADHD Tools Are Allowed To Be Weird

There are approximately 90 bajillion productivity tools out there designed to help people organize their lives, remember their appointments, manage their time, build routines, create meal plans, and magically become the person who uses THIS PLANNER consistently.

Okay, that’s not a factual number – but it sure FEELS like 90 bajillion.

But often they just don’t work for your brain.

Sometimes the thing that works for an ADHD brain isn’t the most streamlined or most efficient-looking solution. It might not be the prettiest or even the most logical.

That’s okay.

The best ADHD tool isn’t the one you are supposed to use. It’s the one (or ones more likely) that you will actually use.

Ways to Build a Social Life That Matches Your Energy

  • Try side-by-side socializing. Walk, craft, game, cowork—less pressure to constantly talk.
  • Plan recovery time. Don’t stack three social things together if you know you’ll pay for it later.
  • Have low-energy options. Texting, memes, voice notes, or parallel play still count as connection.
  • Choose people you can be quiet with. You shouldn’t always have to be “on.”
  • Create recurring connection. A monthly dinner or weekly call means less planning from scratch.
  • Notice your best social times. Morning person? Afternoon human? Plan accordingly.
  • Stop using extroverts as the measuring stick. Your social life doesn’t have to look like anyone else’s.
  • Say no to things you don’t actually enjoy. Save that energy for connection you want.

Gentle Reflection Question

If success looked like feeling more at peace instead of getting more done, what would change?

And that's it for this week my friend. It's finally getting a little chilly around here and I'm enjoying the spooky season.

I hope you enjoy it too....and whatever you do, please don't pee on the zombies.
