Navigating Connection's Tough Moments

Dear Reader!,

It's International Coaching Week!

I've spent a lot of time this weekend attending classes and lectures and conversing with other coaches, and learning a lot.

I also am giving a presentation tonight about Masking, Code-Switching, & Authenticity - Creating Safety In Coaching.

Wish me luck - no matter how often I speak in public I always feel like tossing my cookies. I'll let you know next week how it went!

New Blog: Connection Isn’t Always Cute: What It Looks Like on Hard Days

Real Chat: When we hear the word connection, we tend to imagine the fluffy stuff. The cozy moments. The heart to heart bonding. Lauging, snuggling, playing - "this is what parenting is all about" type of connection. And that connection matters.

However - if you are raising or caring for a kid with ADHD, Autism, and other neurodivergent brains, you have already learned that connection doesn't always look like we imagined it would.

Sometimes connection is looks like holding space in a room that feels too loud.

Sometimes it looks like being yelled at, meltdowns, or ignored.

Connection isn't something that happens only in the warm and fuzzy moments, when things are calm.

Connection can be brought into the hard moments - and honestly? That's when we need it most.

Signs a Relationship Supports Your Belonging (Not Just Your Compliance)

This Week's Quick Tip(s)

🌻You don’t feel like you have to shrink yourself to keep the peace.

🌻You can say “I’m overwhelmed” without immediately feeling guilty.

🌻Mistakes are treated like human moments, not character flaws.

🌻Your “no” is respected without punishment, guilt trips, or silent treatment.

🌻You don’t constantly feel like you’re “too much” or “not enough.”

🌻You feel more like yourself after spending time with them, not less.
