Your Weekly Dose of Authenticity

Welcome to Thursday, Reader!,

Last weekend, I had the absolute honor of serving as the officiant/celebrant of my nephew's wedding. It was a beautiful autumn day - the sun was bright as you can see, and the fall colors were beautiful.

But most special was getting to be the one to legally wed them. Here's a non professional photo my daughter took of me while I waited for the grooms. I'm so grateful that I have this memory.

New BLog Post: I've Been a Lot of Different Versions of Me

Real Chat: I have been a lot of different versions of Kat.

I’ve been the weird kid who got picked on in elementary school and the rebellious teenager who was perfectly happy to make sure she didn’t care what you thought. (She cared. A lot.)

I’ve also been so overwhelmed by life that I couldn’t get up off the floor for days.

I’ve survived cancer, domestic abuse, professional abuse, and more than a few times when waking up in the morning didn’t feel appealing at all.

And now I’m a purple-haired ADHD Coach, business owner, presenter, facilitator, advocate, homeowner, and still-slightly-feral human who somehow gets invited to stand in front of people and talk about things I care deeply about.

Life is weird.

Ways to Celebrate Samhain With Your Kids

  • Learn what Samhain is together. Keep it simple and age-appropriate.
  • Honor your ancestors. Share stories about relatives or people who came before you.
  • Create an ancestor table. Add photos, meaningful objects, flowers, or favorite foods.
  • Cook a family recipe. Especially one connected to your family or heritage.
  • Light a candle for someone you miss. Share a favorite memory if you'd like.
  • Take a nature walk. Notice what’s changing, dying back, or preparing for winter.
  • Make a seasonal nature altar. Let the kids decide what belongs on it.
  • Practice gratitude for the harvest. What has your family received or grown this year?
  • Talk about endings and beginnings. What are you ready to let go of? What do you want to welcome?
  • Tell old stories or folklore. Explore Celtic myths and traditional Samhain stories.

That's it for me, my friend. I'm pre-setting this to go out to you on Thursday, but if all goes as planned - I'll be in Washington, DC, at Converge (The annual Coaches conference) where I will be speaking on a panel about - who would have guessed it, authenticity!

It's a quick trip and I'll be home again late Friday night - so this weekend I'll be resting I'm sure. I hope that you have an amazing weekend - and if you celebrate in any way this weekend - please be safe and have fun.

You deserve it!
