Dear Reader!,
Happy Thursday my friends!
I hope that you are having a great start to your July. Mine is starting out pretty amazing as we added a new addition to our family - Daisy! She's a lovely little 8 year old puppy mill release - and we've had her three days and are madly in love.
Here she is below having her very first pup cup!
New Blog: Nobody Talks About The Grief Of Repeatedly Letting Yourself Down
ADHD discussion often centers around things like time blindness, distracibility, procrastination, overwhelm, and trouble prioritizing. Those are all things that matter.
But there are some parts of the ADHD (and other ND) experiences that donβt get talked about nearly enough.
Like the grief.
Not grief the way we usually think about it.
The grief of making promises to yourself and not being able to keep them.
The grief of trying so hard and still not getting the results you hoped for.
The grief of watching yourself repeat patterns you absolutely swore would be different this time.
Because eventually it stops being about the missed deadline or unfinished project.
It starts becoming a story about yourself.
And that hurts.
This Week's Quick Tips: Things to Try When Your Brain Is Replaying That One Conversation
- Ask yourself, "Do I have actual evidence something went wrong, or is my brain filling in the blanks?"
- Remind yourself that not every uncomfortable feeling is evidence that you did something wrong.
- Remember that most people are thinking about themselves far more than they are thinking about you.
- If you wouldn't judge a friend this harshly for the same interaction, try offering yourself the same grace.
- Give yourself a time limit for replaying it, then intentionally redirect your attention.
- Challenge the assumption that every interaction has to be perfect to be successful.
- Focus on how you want to show up in your next conversation instead of rewriting the last one.
- Closure is nice, but sometimes peace comes from deciding you're done reviewing the footage.
Gentle Reflection Question
What part of yourself deserves a little more kindness today?

What's Kat Up To?
Week One
That's it for me today. Two days from now is the 4th of July. Whether you celebrate or not, please be safe and have fun. If you are experiencing a heat wave like I am - stay cool and keep your pets inside!
Don't forget you are amazing!
