New Blog Post: What ADHD Coaching Actually Looks Like (Spoiler: It's Not Me Yelling "Just Use A Planner")

If you haven't ever worked with an ADHD Coach before, you might be wondering what exactly happens? Heck, even if you have worked with one before, how they work and how I work may be entirely different.

You may have questions like,

  • Will she make me do time blocking?
  • Will she just show me a new planner?"
  • Is she going to lecture me about color coding?"

The answer is definitely not.

Listen, if "just use a planner" worked, I'm sure you would have figured that out sometime between the first planner you ever bought and the seventy others that have come since.

ADHD coaching isn't about me teaching you how to become better at being neurotypical. You aren't broken and you don't need fixing.

It's about figuring out how your brain works, what's getting in the way, what's important to you, and what might make your life a little bit easier.

And if we can alleviate some grief, shame, or guilt? Even better.

Yes, sometimes we spend time getting s&^t done. But that's just a part of what we do.

This Weeks Tips: Tips For Giving Yourself A Reset Without Abandoning The Day

  • Plan a reset into your day - when possible, plan at least a 15 minunte time frame baked into your day and planned for.
  • Shrink the Rest of the Day - it it's possible, stop concentrating on what you "should" accomplish and instead ask yourself what must be done today.
  • Check Your Core Four - Hydrate, Have a snack, Move your body. Close your eyes to rest.
  • Change your environment if possible. Move to a different work location, put on a different light or different music - give your brain some novelty.
  • Get Curious - Ask yourself what your body or brain needs to reset. Maybe it needs fresh air. New music. Maybe your senses need attention.
